As October is approaching, we are hearing more and more rumors and leaks about the iPhone 5 and the possible iPhone 4 S that was announced for this mont. Now, we know for sure that Apple is launching the iPhone 5 that month but very limited information is known about the iPhone 4S which is rumored to be a cheaper variant.
Now, a screen shot of what appears to be AT&T’s inventory system points to an “iPhone 4 S White” being included in the network’s listing of Apple products. However, this has not been confirmed yet and this might easily be a hoax as much as it being true so there’s no other way but to wait for an actual announcement from Apple.

Samsung has today launched its newest milestone in the form of the High Fidelity Position app. The app was specifically created for the Windows Phone Mango OS and is supposed to enhance GPS positioning.
A great feature of this is how it uses the Russian GLONASS system or the Global Navigation Satellite System together with other location determining sensors that comes with your Windows Phone Mango device. Once you installed the app, it will appear under your phone’s setting instead of being a single app.
You can find more details over at Samsung Mobile.

Research in Motion has announced today an achievement that suggests that the BlackBerry App World is not as dead as others say. According to the announcement, their very own app store has reached over 1 billion downloads with over 3 million apps a day.
RIM’s own App store is two-years old and is available across 100 countries worldwide. It may not be as big as the iTunes App Store or the Android Market but 1 billion is still something to brag about.
On a different note, Research in Motion has also announced that it will be releasing 7 smartphones before the year ends.

HP might be swinging for the fence with their statement claiming that their upcoming range of webOS based tablets will become more popular than the iPad, but then again, so did Apple a few years back and look at it now.
Eric Cador, HP’s European head, said at a press conference that the company is looking to emulate their success in the PC market with their tablets.
This is a pretty big claim and it will surely require some kind of breakthrough or a maybe pretty good deal with their upcoming tablets if they want to make it into the business.
The first webOS tablet will launch this summer with their flagship device, the HP TouchPad.

OpenFeint will test its capabilities with the Chinese mobile gaming industry as it offers its services to the country. This is made possible with OpenFeint’s partnership with the online gaming operator The9. The result is the newly established mobile gaming platform named The9 Game Zone which will offer distribution channels for mobile game developers looking to tap the Chinese gaming market.
The9 Limited is a well known provider of social networking services as well as online games in the country and is more than capable of handling OpenFeint’s agenda.
This is not the first joint move by both companies as just last month, they have offered funding for gaming developers to move their games from iOS to Android in the amount of $100 million.

A college student from George Mason University named Kevin Lee started out by helping a few friends jailbreak their iPhones. As for the average user, jailbreaking and unlocking their iPhones can prove to be a complicated process.
Kevin Lee started out on Craigslist and started out servicing 5 to 10 customers a week which soon climbed to 30-40 customers. Because of this, Lee earned a total of $50,000 last year alone!
I wonder how the government will react to this story as Kevin Lee appears to be making more than an average worker and is not being taxed.

Apple released a new app yesterday called iAd Gallery which gives advertisers a new gateway to their targeted consumers. With this, users can expect to find iPhone advertisements that matter. Users can also flip through categories, search for specific companies and even mark ads that catch their attention.
Too bad for a third-party app called Ads Tube though, since Apple rejected the app which basically offers the same thing. Another reason how it could suck for a developer to develop for an Apple platform.
So if viewing through ads is your thing, you might wanna check the iAd Gallery from the App Store.
